Individualized Instruction

Ages & Stages

We recommend my first & basic piano adventures for new students grades 1-5 and recommend students grade 4 and up start with piano adventures accelerated & pre-bigtime. Adult beginners can pick their own curriculum, use adult piano adventures, or learn individual songs.

We encourage students to bring song requests from the music that inspires them! Many children want to learn songs from their favorite
movie, video game, or pop artist - we are seriously down with that.

Our Students Love Us!

BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

"Nate has been teaching my daughter piano since 2017. My daughter absolutely loves Nate. He has built up her confidence and her love of music. Her self-discipline and focus have increased significantly since starting lessons with Nate. She used to struggle in school but is now a straight-A student. I credit that completely to her music lessons."

Leslie Gillette

"I've been taking weekly lessons with Nate since 2017 and he's always been patient and great at explaining things in a way I can understand. I'm glad to have an instructor that is both talented and thoughtful."

Jackie Gillette

"We highly recommend Mr. Nathan for both in person and virtual piano lessons. All my 3 kids ages from 10 to 15 learn from him. My eldest started to learn piano since she was 6 years old. We started with him in person. When he said he was moving from our area my kids didn't want to switch teachers. He is such a good and patient teacher; keeps the kids class interactive and enjoyable. Even my shy son loves his class. We highly recommend him."

Labora K.

"Nate is an extremely talented musician, encouraging, a friend and is my daughter's piano teacher. We highly suggest him."

Dana Hodge

"Homeschool friends!!! He is classically trained, and has a ton of knowledge. With that said, he's extensively talented beyond that. He's been teaching kids for years. He's a worshipper at heart and loves the Lord. We know his family and children well and love them all!"

Hayley Tallman

"Excellent Instruction! My son took piano lessons from Nathan and loved it! He is patient and very thorough!!! I would highly recommend him!"

Tonya Shiltz

"Great Musician. Who is patient and very understanding and knowledgeable about music! Would especially recommend for piano lessons!"

Jarrod Connor

We have one of the highest student retention rates of any piano studio we know. We love that we get to grow alongside our students and have frequently had the privilege of being with our students for their entire middle school and high school careers!

Frequently Asked Piano Lesson Questions:

How long to learn the piano?

How long it takes to learn the piano depends on various factors such as your dedication, natural ability, practice routine, and the level of proficiency you wish to achieve.

For beginners, it usually takes several months to get comfortable with the basics, such as reading sheet music, playing simple melodies, and developing hand-eye coordination. With consistent practice, you can expect to play more complex pieces within a year or two.

If you want to achieve a higher level of proficiency, such as performing in front of audiences or pursuing a career in music, it can take several years of regular practice and lessons with a qualified instructor. The key is to practice consistently and be patient with yourself as you progress.

Ultimately, learning to play the piano is a lifelong journey that requires dedication and commitment. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, there is always room to improve and refine your skills.

Is piano hard to learn?

How hard it is to learn the piano depends on several factors, including the student’s aptitude, dedication, and practice habits. With consistent and focused practice, anyone can learn to play the piano.

Learning the piano can be a challenging process, especially for beginners. The piano requires the development of several skills, including finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and music reading, among others.

Furthermore, there are different levels of proficiency in piano playing, from beginner to advanced, and each level requires a different level of skill and practice. It is important to set realistic goals and take the time to develop each skill at your own pace.

Overall, learning the piano may be challenging, but with dedication and practice, it is a rewarding and enjoyable experience that can bring a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

How to start learning piano?

Here are some steps to help you get started learning the piano:

  1. Get a piano: You will need access to a piano or keyboard to practice. You can buy or rent a piano, or use a digital keyboard with weighted keys. It’s important to have an instrument that is in good condition and properly tuned.

  2. Find a teacher or online lessons: Having a teacher can help you learn faster and avoid bad habits. Look for a qualified piano teacher in your area or consider taking online lessons. There are also many free resources available online, such as YouTube tutorials and piano apps.

  3. Learn the basics: Start by learning the names of the keys and how to read sheet music. Practice playing simple melodies with your right hand, and learn basic chords with your left hand.

  4. Practice regularly: Consistent practice is key to making progress. Try to practice for at least 30 minutes each day, and set specific goals for each practice session.

  5. Listen to music: Listen to a variety of piano music to inspire you and develop your musical ear. Pay attention to the rhythm, melody, and harmony, and try to identify different instruments in the music.

  6. Join a community: Join a local music group or online forum to connect with other piano players and get feedback on your playing. You can also attend concerts and recitals to see other pianists perform.

Remember to be patient and enjoy the process of learning. With time and practice, you can become a skilled pianist.
